Guest Speaker:
Mark Nimo lives in Chicago with his wife Mercy and their young daughter Michele Marie. He was born in the country of Ghana in West Africa. Mark Nimo was a teenager living away from his home in Ghana, facing new kinds of choices – between parties, girls and drinks. But his newfound freedom led to a crisis that made him think suicide was the only option. It was a wake up call. . He experienced a new passion for prayer, Bible study, and sharing Jesus. This transformation led Mark into lay missions work. He received ministry training at the International Catholic Program of Evangelization (I.C.P.E.) in Malta, Europe. Now truly free, Mark travels the world as a “messenger of hope” to people struggling as he once did. His message to young people is unequivocal: “I call them back to faith in Jesus Christ and to discern their choices, to respond to the call to be holy and live a life influenced by the gospel.”
In 1991, he became a missionary among people dying with HIV/AIDS in Uganda where he also served on a team that trained Catholic evangelizers. In 1993, he returned to Ghana to head the “Know and Tell the Gospel” School of Evangelization. Mark also served for nearly 10 years as servant-leader and representative of English- and Portuguese-speaking Africa on the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services (ICCRS) council in Vatican. As a gifted and anointed lay evangelist, worship leader, and youth minister, he has ministered the gospel of Jesus in over 35 countries on several continents. He holds a Masters in Pastoral theology and currently serves on the Service team of the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Charismatic Renewal. He also serves as a hospital chaplain at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
